By taking the best hybrid technologies from current systems, the Escalade’s 2-mode system seamlessly transitions between the electric motors and gas engine as speed and power demands vary. Additionally, regenerative braking captures energy naturally lost during vehicle braking and coasting and puts it back into the battery.

When operating at low speeds, the Escalade Hybrid may be in full electric mode. As speed and power demands increase, the Escalade Hybrid may also run the electric motors and engine power simultaneously. If power demands increase past certain limits, the Escalade Hybrid will automatically transition into full gasoline engine power.

But as you might expect from Cadillac, the advancement doesn’t stop there. The Escalade Hybrid is also the first Cadillac to utilize Active Fuel Management.™ If the full power of all eight cylinders of the 6.0 liter V-8 is not needed during highway driving, the engine will run on just four cylinders. This saves even more gasoline and improves highway fuel economy₁.
